In the ever-competitive segment of budget smartphones in India, there are many options currently available for customers. Xiaomi has been consistently dominant in this segment with its value-for-money smartphones. In addition to Xiaomi smartphones, there are more options you can go for under the price bracket of 15,000.

Xiaomi today increased the price of its Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone by 1,000. However, it still come under the 15,000 price bracket. The price hike is due to the recent tax increase on PCBA imports, the company said. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is now starts at 14,999 for the 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage.

With the Redmi Note 5 Pro, you have two rear cameras of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. The dual cameras work together for depth-of-field effect by blurring out the background and focusing on the subject. The smartphone also has a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 selfie camera.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is undoubtedly the most sought after smartphone in this price segment. The base model with 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage is priced at 9,999, while the top model with 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage retails at 11,999. At this price, the smartphone offers a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, Snapdragon 626 processor, and 'Face Unlock'.

Xiaomi Mi A1

Another Xiaomi smartphone worthy of this category is the Mi A1 Android One smartphone. Other than the pure Android Oreo experience, Mi A1 also offers dual 12-megapixel cameras with 'Portrait Mode'. Xiaomi Mi A1 further comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, a Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3,080mAh battery, and has a USB Type-C port for connectivity.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is the latest to join this price segment starting at 10,999 for the 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage variant. There's another variant available at 12,999 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone is a direct competitor to Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5. In comparison, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 offers a dual-camera setup of 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. Its front 16-megapixel camera also comes with 'bokeh' mode.

Another highlight of the smartphone is its massive 5,000mAh battery which further comes with fast-charging support. On the software front, it runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo. More features include a 5.99-inch full HD+ display, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 processor.

Honor 7X

The base model of Honor 7X is priced at 12,999 with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Honor 7X has an 18:9 FullView display to offer along with a 16-megapixel dual-camera setup. Under the hood of the smartphone, Honor 7X runs a Kirin 659 octa-core processor. Software wise the smartphone runs custom EMUI 5,1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The smartphone's 3,340mAh battery is claimed to offer a day's juice on a single charge in addition to an 'Ultra Power Saving Mode'.

Infinix Hot S3

The most affordable offering in this category is the Infinix Hot S3. The smartphone stands out for its 20-megapixel selfie camera which also supports 'Face Unlock'. Infinix Hot S3 also comes with a 4,000mAh battery, and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 processor. Also on offer is a 5.65-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

Infinix Hot S3 comes in two variants starting at 8,999 for the 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage one and at 10,999 for the 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage model.
