Your WhatsApp Status likely to get big makeover in latest update; check out the change
WhatsApp Status feature was in for a makeover and the Facebook-owned company may roll out an update soon, according to a new report.
Twitter Fleets were permanently shut down last week, but it appears that WhatsApp has already gained inspiration for its next feature. WhatsApp has been working on a lot of features recently, most notably the company's much-awaited multi-device feature that allows up to four other devices including computers and Facebook Portal to use WhatsApp independently of the primary smartphone where the app is installed. However, the company is also working on adding several smaller improvements to the app in the form of better contact information pages, improved emoji support and image editing tools for WhatsApp Web. Now, the company is working on a major improvement to its Status feature, according to a new report.
WhatsApp introduced Status in 2017, a clone of Snapchat's Stories feature where users could upload images and videos for 24 hours. However, while the app's main features have all received important updates over the past months, Status has remained more or less the same and has been relegated to a tab on WhatsApp. However, according to a new report by noted feature leaker WABetaInfo, it looks like WhatsApp might be ready to bring its Status right under people's noses in an upcoming update.

The big change that is reportedly being worked on by WhatsApp is the addition of WhatsApp Status to a user's profile. According to a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, an under-development image of the feature shows a green ring around a profile photo that indicates that the user has uploaded his Status.
Interestingly. WhatsApp seems to have taken inspiration from Twitter's now-defunct Fleets feature, which was shut down earlier this month. According to WABetaInfo, tapping a profile photo with a green ring around it will present a prompt to users asking if they want to View Profile Photo or View Status.
However, users should take these revelations with a pinch of salt as WhatsApp could easily change the functionality as the company continues to work on the feature.
