Zomato most ordered dish in 2021: Momos hit 1-cr mark, but Biryani is No. 1

Momos is not just food, it is an emotion! At least that is what the record in India shows. Probably, you may very well be agreeing with this. Well, everyone knows that momos have become a widely accepted dish across the nation, especially in North India. And a recent report of the food-delivery app, Zomato has proved the same. According to Zomato, more than 1.06 crore people ordered momos from its app in 2021. It seems momos helped people out by lifting their spirits during of the gloomy pandemic moments (or, perhaps, India is actually becoming a momo-philic country!). Whatever the reason is, momos are topping the list of most ordered food on Zomato.

In a blog post, the online food delivery company Zomato mentioned that Biryani is the most ordered food in 2021, as they sent out two biryanis every two seconds in India! The company's annual report further revealed the Dosa as the second most ordered dish with over 8.8 million orders. Such more amazing and astonishing facts about the Indian orders were revealed by Zomato today. The food delivery firm also took to Instagram to share the memes about 'how India ordered' in 2021.

Food is surely therapy! During the India vs Pakistan T20 cricket match back in October, 1,062,710 people ordered online food from Zomato, the report revealed. According to Zomato, the year's largest order, for ₹33,000, was placed by a customer in Ahmedabad. While, Shweta placed 12 ice cream orders in a single day, and Zomato left no chance to relate it with the viral leaked video of a girl who left her mic on during online class. Further, Tushar, a Delhi resident, placed an order for 389 pizzas. A customer named Pritee was the one who placed the most number of orders in a year.

Zomato, in its Instagram post, mentioned that, “Vicky and Katrina were the second most popular couple of 2021, the first being Paneer Butter Masala and Butter Naan. They were ordered together more than 1.1 million times.”

A week ago, Zomato's rival food-delivery platform Swiggy rolled out its annual report which also saw Biryani as the most ordered dish on its platform, making it the overall most ordered dish in India. While the Indian snack Samosa took the second position as the most popular snack of the year with over 5 million orders.
