Zoom back online after a brief global outage

Some Zoom users reported facing issues with getting past Waiting Rooms.

Popular video conferencing platform, Zoom, suffered a brief outage on late Sunday evening with users across the globe reporting issues in getting past the Waiting Room. Some users also reported facing issues with the audio and video of their calls.

Zoom confirmed issues in its platform via its own status dashboard and its Twitter account. “Our team is investigating the root cause of issues joining Zoom Meetings. These issues appear to be limited to a subset of users,” Zoom wrote in a Tweet.

According to Down Detector, the issue began at around 6:30PM IST and peaked at around 7:42PM IST with around 7791 people around the globe including the US, the UK, Australia, Japan and Malaysia complaining about issues in joining meetings.

The issue was resolved at around 11:42PM IST with fewer than 500 people reporting issues. Zoom also confirmed the news via a Tweet. The company also apologised for the inconvenience caused to its users.

“Zoom users impacted by this issue should now be able to host, join & participate in Zoom Meetings & Zoom Video Webinars if they restart their sessions. We continue to assess & monitor. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused,” Zoom added in another Tweet.
