Huami’s retro-inspired Amazfit Neo goes official with a $44 price tag

Huami's very retro Amazfit Neo has been up for pre-orders for almost two weeks on AliExpress and has now finally become official. The smartwatch was announced in China yesterday and can be purchased immediately.

The Amazfit Neo comes with a 1.2-inch STN LCD always-on display that's visible under direct sunlight, reports GizmoChina. For darker environments, the smartwatch comes with an illuminated display feature that can be turned on by raising the wrist.

The smartwatch can track three sports modes - cycling, walking and running. It is waterproof up to 50 meters so you can wear it while swimming. The Amazfit Neo also comes with a heart rate sensor that monitors heart rate through 24 hours ar 30-minute intervals.

There is also sleep tracking with support for daytime naps and PAI health assessment that's also available on other Amazfit watches.

This smartwatch comes with a 160mAH battery that should last up to four weeks on a single charge. Huami says that users should get about 28 days of battery life with typical usage. On basic mode, which does not include heart-rate tracking and Bluetooth needs to be off, the Amazfit Neo should be able to last you around 37 days.

The Amazfit Neo uses Bluetooth 5.0 BLE for connectivity and connects to the Zepp app that works both on iOS and Android. The smartwatch can sync text messages, notifications and emails and you can see these as icons on the watch face.

The smartwatch is available in three colours - Grass Gray Green, Coral Orange and Classic Black with matching PUR straps. It is priced at 299 yen or $44 ( ₹3,228 approx). You can buy it on Tmall and it is also available for $39.99 ( ₹2,934 approx) on AliExpress but only in black.
