Cyberpunk 2077: Everything we know about this Keanu Reeves' starring game
Waiting for one of the most anticipated video games of the year? Here's everything you need to know about Cyberpunk 2077.
If there’s any game that can be placed in the “most anticipated titles” of the year, that’s Cyberpunk 2077. Developed by CD Projekt Red, this upcoming title has been subject to delays (twice) but has managed to keep the fans excited for quite some time. Although fans knew that it was coming to the market at some point, what got them excited was when last year Hollywood star Keanu Reeves showed up on stage at E3 2019 conference and declared himself as one of the characters in the game. But that’s not everything. Since then, we have got to know a lot about the title. So, here’s a quick roundup on Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 storyline and setup
CyberPunk 2077 is a first person RPG set in a metropolis called Night City in the year, you guessed it right, 2077. The story includes everything from drugs to social politics, violence and much more. You can play as either gender in this game who fights his/her way up the ladder to live a better life while corporate giants and street gangs do the best to knock you down. What’s worth mentioning is that the city is infested with a drug called ‘braindance’ which allows people to experience the emotions and stimuli of another person for a few hours. This means people can be rich, successful and popular in their preferred gender and live their lives for a few hours, as if it was real.
Most of these experiences are said to be tailored by big corporations as braindance is sold as a form of entertainment. Some are also sold via the black market featuring some dark stimuli of for instance, a cold blooded serial killer.
It has been confirmed that CYberPunk 2077 will have more than one ending, based on the gameplay and possibly, what you chose to do in the game. However, the details are not known.
You will be able to choose from three playable classes - Netrunner, Techie, and Solo. However, there is also an option to mix the abilities of the player from all three class types. For those unaware, Netrunners are hackers, techies are good in crafting specialists and Solos are lone mercenaries. All these are directly picked up from the tabletop RPG, Cyberpunk 2020, which has more than three classes.
Of course, character customisation is available when you play the game. You can customise the gender, voice and appearance. Over time you also develop on stats like strength, intelligence and reflexes, all of which will affect your gameplay as well.
Until now, CD Projekt Red has shown some in-game characters like Jackie Welles, a mercenary, Dexter DeShawn a fixer who handles kidnappings to assassinations, Royce who is the boss of the Maelstrom gang, Doctor Victor who repairs and heals you, and Meredith Stout who is an agent for the Militech corporation. Keanu Reeves will be starring as Johnny Silverhand, helping us in the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 map
The Cyberpunk 2077 map will definitely be bigger if you didn’t guess it yet. In some previous interviews, the game developers and project heads have time and again confirmed that it will be bigger and better than the map of Witcher 3. Also, the Cyberpunk 2077 map will be split into six districts - City Center, Watson, Westbrook, Heybrook, Pacifica, and Santo Domingo.
City Centre, as expected, is the main destination that is luxurious owning to several corporations, while Watson includes Asian cultures who inhabit old buildings of corporate giants. Westbrook is the tourist hub and Heywood is the sprawling suburban area with those at higher positions. Pacifica is outside the main city and is the poorest and dangerous district. It also includes gang violence.
