Forget GTA Online, hackers just leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage
It looks like the days of repeatedly asking Rockstar Games for the next GTA sequel might soon be over after a gameplay footage of GTA 6 was leaked!
Bored of playing GTA V and GTA Online repeatedly? It seems like you might not have to wait a long time for the next GTA sequel from Rockstar Games. Last night, early gameplay footage of the next GTA game was leaked online on social media by a hacker on the GTAForums platform. The hacker posted over 90 videos of early development footage of GTA 6, the next big game from Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive, although the videos were shortly taken down due to a takedowns issued by Take Two Interactive.
Gamers have long been asking for GTA 6 updates with millions of people flooding Rockstar as well as Take Two Interactive's social media pages with comments. GTA V was released way back in 2013 and although the game has held up very well for its age, people have got bored of it and want its sequel to release as soon as possible.
The leak was first observed by PCGamer on a post on GTAForums by a hacker named “teapotuberhacker” who claimed to have the original source code to GTA V as well as GTA 6 and wanted to settle the matter with Rockstar Games. According to reports, the hacker then demanded that someone from Rockstar contact him and he” will not accept any offers under 5 figures”, according to twitter user @_Tom_Henderson_.
Bloomberg Reporter Jason Schreier confirmed the credibility of the leaked footage. He tweeted, “Not that there was much doubt, but I've confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend's massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games.”
Users are advised not to post any clips of the GTA 6 leak as Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive are already issuing DMCA against anybody who is posting these illegally obtained clips.
GTA 6 details based on leaked footage
The leaks on social media showed two playable protagonists – one male and one female. This could potentially be the first time that Rockstar Games has included a female protagonist in its GTA series. The early development footage showed the gameplay, game engine, mechanics and a lot more. The leaked clips also seemed to confirm the rumours of Rockstar taking the GTA series back to Vice City for the first time since GTA Vice City which launched in October 2002.
