Genshin Impact 2.1 update lands today and the latest version of the game is expected to add a lot of content to the game -- the most notable change, of course, will be two brand new islands. Watatsumi Island and Seirai Island will be making their way to the game when the Genshin Impact 2.1 update goes live. The addition of two new islands is notable because it follows the addition of the massive new nation Inazuma in the previous update and shows that developer miHoYo is continuing to work on expanding the game.

Thanks to data miners and leaks, we have some clues as to what to expect from the Genshin Impact 2.1 update, which has been named the ‘Floating World Under the Moonlight' update. These include new bosses and characters, even fishing! We have also previously reported that players can look forward to four new characters in the game – these are Sangonomiya Kokomi, Horizon Dawn's Aloy, Kujou Sara and the ever-popular Raiden Shogun. Aloy is a 5-star archer, while Kokomi is a 5-star catalyst with Hydro powers, while Sara wields Electro attacks.

Genshin Impact 2.1 update time

According to MiHoYo, the maintenance window for the Genshin Impact 2.1 update will begin on Wednesday at 06 AM (UTC+8) and is likely to complete within five hours. This works out to around 3:30 AM IST on Wednesday, and the game should be available for gamers to start playing around 8:30 AM, assuming the update is completed within the scheduled time period. As seasoned players will be aware, the game's servers will be offline during this period, so gamers will not be able to play Genshin Impact while the update is released.

How to update game client for Genshin Impact 2.1 update

Depending on the platform you play Genshin Impact on, users can perform specific steps to update the game client. On a PC. they must close the game, open the Genshin Impact Launcher, and click Update. On an iPhone, they must open the App Store and tap Update All. On an Android smartphone, they must open the game and follow the directions on-screen. Maintenance compensation for Genshin Impact 2.1 update

When the Genshin Impact 2.1 update is underway, the servers will be down for maintenance. This means that gamers will not be able to play the game while the update is being installed. MiHoYo wants to compensate gamers during this time, and players above rank 5 will receive 300 Primogems, which works out to 60 Primogems for every hour that the servers are down. If the game takes longer than the planned five hours, then gamers will get 60 Primogems for every hour that the server is unavailable. However, if the update completes early, the compensation of 300 Primogems will not be changed, according to MiHoYo.
