Ghost of Tsushima is the fastest selling PS4 original yet

Ghost of Tsushima has become the fastest selling first party PS4 game with more than five million copies sold, despite being launched back in July 2020.

Ghost of Tsushima has bagged another record by becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 Original title. The game has already sold over four million copies worldwide and has beaten other games like Horizon Zero Dawn.

PlayStation Worldwide Studios' head Herman Hulst tweeted earlier this week that Ghost of Tsushima has become the fastest selling first party PS4 game with more than five million copies sold, despite being launched back in July 2020.

This also marks an incredible feat for the Sucker Punch game studio (which has also developed the popular Infamous series).

As Gizmochina points out, the important aspect to note here is the “Original” tag on the game since “other titles have performed better than Ghost of Tsushima.

A big example of that is Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales that sold 3.3 million copies in just three days of launch (though the IP is owned by Marvel and not Sony).

Also, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II had also released just a month before Ghost of Tsushima and had sold over four million copies in three days. However, this one was not considered an original title as it was a sequel.
