On the completion of one year, Amazon has now made Alexa available in Hindi for Android and iOS devices. Amazon said it has added over 60 new features for Alexa in the past one year. These include features such as asking Alexa to whisper, adjust the speed of Alexa’s voice, health updates, and Bollywood dialogue mimicry. Alexa’s speech understanding has also been improved and it has reduced errors by more than 40% since last year. It can understand around 50 ways to play a song in Hindi, and it has also been optimised to understand words like ‘dhai’ and ‘tham jaa’. Amazon has also added six new Alexa original songs and poems, and 20 new stories in Hindi. The Amazon Alexa app on Android and iOS app can now be used in Hindi language. Amazon Alexa in Hindi has been available on the company’s Echo smart speakers. Alexa receives “hundreds or thousands of requests in Hindi and Hinglish” daily, and most requests are to play music, read the news, set timers and alarms, check the calendar and more. ALSO READ: Alexa says hello to Amitabh Bachchan, first celebrity voice in India “India’s unique cultural and linguistic diversity has always inspired us to make Alexa more local and relevant for users in the country. Introducing Hindi made Alexa accessible to hundreds of millions of native Hindi speakers. We have made several improvements in Natural Language Understanding. For example, Alexa was not able to understand words like ‘dhai’ & ‘tham jaa’ in the beginning, but now she does. Similarly, we will continue to make Alexa interactions in Hindi even more seamless and conversational. It is still Day 1,” said Puneesh Kumar, Country Leader for Alexa, Amazon India. Amazon Alexa app users on Android and iOS can start using it in Hindi by simply changing the language setting on the app. On other devices, Alexa in Hindi can be activated by saying, “Alexa, Hindi mei baat karo.” Catch all the Latest Tech News, Mobile News, Laptop News, Gaming news, Wearables News , How To News, also keep up with us on Whatsapp channel,Twitter, Facebook, Google News, and Instagram.
