Amazon Prime Video launches shuffle button for Android users
This shuffle button will play episodes of one season in random.
Amazon Prime Video has launched a new shuffle button for TV episodes. This feature will play episodes in a random order, and it's available for the Prime Video app on Android.
The new shuffle button is available on the latest version of the Prime Video app for Android, according to a report by Android Police. The shuffle button appears along with the watchlist and share button. You can tap on the option to “shuffle episodes”, and episodes will play in a random order. This feature is however restricted to one season per show. This means that it will shuffle episodes within only one season, and not the entire show. Amazon started testing this feature last year on its Android app.
This feature can be useful for shows that you watch over and over again (Friends!). If you're not in the mood to start a new show, and want to revisit an all-time favourite, shuffling episodes can bring a sort of refreshing way to binge content. It looks like the shuffle button is rolling out slowly to Prime Video users as it isn't available in India yet.
Netflix has also been testing a “Shuffle Play” feature, and it plans to roll it out this year. This is slightly different as it will shuffle the entire Netflix content feed. Netflix will recommend shows and movies according to your preferences. Netflix already has a ton of recommendation lists based on the last movie or TV show you just watched. It has also experimented with playing random episodes from TV shows as well.
