Android TV app on iOS is testament to Google’s one-sided love for Apple
The new app is an alternative to the remote or tablet that are a part of the Android TV package
The only two apps from Apple available on Android are Apple Music and a migration app. However, all of Google's popular apps, including Android Wear's companion app have been available for iOS for a very long time. Adding to that long list, Google has now introduced an iOS app that will let you control an Android TV using iPhones and iPads.
The new app is an alternative to the remote or tablet that are a part of the Android TV package. But, a phone is something that's definitely more convenient with the ability to type, do voice search and navigate by installing thee iOS app. It also has an added benefit of turning your iOS device into a remote when your original remote magically disappears and you know its around, but too lazy to look for it.
This one-sided love between Apple and Google is playing in the latter's favour because the slowing down of iPhone sales has lead to the company leaning on their services like Apple Music for some relief. But, the with Android TV getting a wider range of support, Apple might be reconsidering their need to make Appel TV accessible to a wider network of users by making it play nice with Google's Android.
