Apple on Tuesday evening announced that it will be hosting its annual fall event on September 15 wherein the company is expected to unveil iPhone 12 series smartphones and Apple Watch Series 6 among other things.
The company, via an update on its events page, unveiled that it will be hosting a special event at Apple Park on September 15 at 10AM PDT (or 10:30PM IST). Apple typically hosts its annual event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, which is attended by hundreds of people from all across the globe. However, this year, the company will be hosting the event virtually the way it hosted WWDC 2020 in June this year.
As far as the product lineup is concerned, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 12 series smartphones at the event. Reports so far have hinted towards the iPhone 12 series comprising of four iPhone models. Two budget models with screen sizes of 5.4-inches and 6.1-inches, and two ‘Pro' models with screen sizes of 6.1-inches and 6.7-inches. Reports have also hinted towards the company opting for a staggered launch for its iPhone 12 series with the premium iPhone 12 models being launched later in October. If this is indeed true, it is possible that the company would launch the budget variants at its September 15 event while keeping the Pro variants for a later date.
Apart from the iPhone 12 series smartphones, Apple is also expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 6 at its upcoming event. Reports have hinted towards the Watch Series six getting two variants this year, one that will succeed the premium Watch Series 5 and the other low-cost variant that will succeed the Watch Series 3 and compete with the likes of Fitbit and Samsung.
Additionally, the company is expected to launch the iPad Air 4 at its September 15 event. This new iPad Air is tipped to get an iPad Pro 2020 like design and support for Apple Pencil 2.
Apple hasn't mentioned anything as to what it has in store for its upcoming event and so we will have to wait until September 15 to figure out the details.
