This year Apple's iPhone 12 and M1 processor were not the only attention seekers by the firm. The new MagSafe chargers also got their fair share of headlines. Out of these two, the MagSafe Duo charger is now being said to be incompatible with Apple's old 29watt USB-C power adapter.

This adapter is not really old because it was replaced by a 30watt power adapter just two years ago in 2018. So, there is a good chance of you having this 29watt power adapter at home and use it with MagSafe Duo since this new wireless charger doesn't come with a charging adapter. However, if you might not be able to use it at all.

This piece of information comes directly from Apple's one of the support pages for the MagSafe Duo. In the support page it clearly states that “The Apple 29watt USB-C power adapter isn't compatible with the MagSafe Duo charger.”

It is worth adding that Apple's new charger that powers both the iPhone and the Apple Watch simultaneously doesn't come with a power adapter as well.

This is a part of Apple's move to become a carbon free company in the next few years. During the launch of iPhone 12 it did announce that going forward all the iPhone retail boxes will miss out on the charger and earbuds.

While this might be slightly frustrating for some MagSafe Duo charger users, what adds to it is the fact that this charger won't be able to deliver 15watt peak speeds like the regular MagSafe charger.

Although Apple only recommended users to use a 20watt adapter with MagSafe Duo. It got people to assume that the charger will also be able to deliver 15watt charging speed like the original MagSafe. However, the updated product description now says that MagSafe Duo can only deliver 11watts of power if you use it with a 20watt adapter. When it is connected to a 27watt or higher USB type C adapter, it will reach 14watts charging speed.
