Flipboard 2.0, the latest version of the popular news aggregation, digital magazine application, gives the app a makeover that lets each user become the editor of their own magazine.

The first version of Flipboard, back in 2010, essentially transformed one's Twitter and Facebook feeds into a digital magazine; later the app added integration from other sources such as Instagram, Tumblr, and Linkedin as well as bringing in content from certain media sources specially formatted for the application.

Flipboard 2.0 essentially transforms the experience of the app from discovery to content curation. The new updates essentially keep the original experience but also allow users to create their own magazines, based on themes of their choice, which they can choose to either share or keep private.

In order to create their own magazine within the app, users simply press the '+' sign shown at the bottom of the graphic which then allows you to 'flip' the content, say tweets for example, into a magazine, or magazines. Once users have selected this action it is automatically organized into an 'editorial style' spread with a lead 'cover' image. Users can make changes such as adding soundtracks or making slight modifications to the cover. This newly created 'magazine' can then be shared if the user so wishes.

Flipboard has a base of around 50 million users.
