HTC is considering launching an updated HTC One M8 with a plastic chassis. Samsung, meanwhile, is considering a metal-alloy version of its Galaxy S5.

Fighting a bitter battle over supremacy in the Android smartphone market, Samsung launched its front-runner handset, the Galaxy S5, with a plastic chassis.

Soon criticized by its rival, HTC reprimanded Samsung's device while touting that its own flagship smartphone, the One M8, was a better option because of its metal case design, CNET reports.

According to the report, HTC could be able to drop prices on its M8 by 300 dollars by switching to plastic in the new market where its metal-only design might be exorbitant.
