TikTok reclaimed its top spot as the world's most downloaded non-game app in May, according to data from Sensor Tower. TikTok is also still getting its most downloads from India despite the parade of banning the app that went viral for some time.

TikTok app received over 111.9 million installs in May which is a 2x year-over-year increase compared to May 2019. India contributed 20% of its total downloads last month. TikTok has its most number of downloads and users in India. However the video sharing app faced severe backlash in the country with people boycotting the app.

TikTok was even spammed on Google Play Store with negative reviews and 1-star ratings. This however seemed to have not affected TikTok's position at least for now.

Following TikTok is Zoom which garnered around 94.6 million installs. Zoom received its most number of installs from US and India at 17% each. Zoom had beaten TikTok in April with almost 131 million new installs globally. Zoom is however the most downloaded app on the App Store followed by TikTok. On Google Play it's the third most downloaded app.

The top ten list continues with the usuals like WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. Google Meet takes the 7th spot while India's Covid-19 app Aarogya Setu takes the 8th position. Aarogya Setu was in the 7th place in April and 5th in Google Play downloads. Its ranks in both places have gone down. The app however has reached 12 crore people in India.
