Instagram launches AR effect for Diwali, new IGTV shows

Instagram's new AR effect is available in seven languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Instagram has launched a new AR effect on the occasion of Diwali that's taking place later this week. Instagram has also partnered with creators for new IGTV shows.

The new Instagram AR effect is called ‘Share Your Light' and it's available in seven languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The new AR effect is now available on Instagram for everyone to use. To use the Diwali AR effect, you'll have to open the effects gallery and search for ‘festive diya'. The AR effect features a design inspired by mandalas, diyas, festive lights and colours. It also has the message ‘Share Your Light' which is visible in all the seven languages. There's also one with no text on the AR filter.

Instagram has been launching AR filters and GIFs for different occasions in India. It recently launched AR filters, GIFs and content around Durga Puja. It also partnered with creators for content on Rakhi, Onam and Ganesh Utsav.

Instagram is also going to air new IGTV shows with creators starting today. Each creator will feature in a 5-part series talking about their different life experiences and more. The IGTV shows include ‘Sundays with Shirley' by Shirley Setia, ‘It will take five minutes only' by Kusha Kapila, ‘Arjun Right Now' by Arjun Kanungo, ‘In the Nick of time' by Nikunj Lotia aka Beyounick, ‘Shockumentaries' by RJ Abhinav, and ‘Feel Hona Chahiye' by Lisa Mishra.
