Kant tweeted about JioMeet on Saturday night and called it “better than Zoom” and said that it will “go places”. Kant also called the new app a “major technological disruptor” adding that this app will go places in these challenging times. Also read click here. > Tried JioMeet video-conferencing. It's easy & simple! Better than Zoom. Meetings are encrypted & password protected. Unlimited high definition calls. All data in India. Emerges as a major technological disruptor from India. Will go places in these challenging times.— Amitabh Kant (@amitabhk87) July 4, 2020 Announced earlier this year, JioMeet was rolled out to all users on Monday. This new video conferencing app comes with unlimited free calling and allows 100 users on a video call at one time and a host of other features like Zoom. JioMeet is available across platforms and here’s how you can download it. In case you need to know more details about the app, here’s a list. As Kant indicated, JioMeet’s launch has been timed well given that India just banned 59 Chinese apps recently and has also been pushing its ‘Vocal for local’ agenda. The Indian government has also announced the Digital India AatmaNirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge for Indian tech entrepreneurs and startups yesterday. Through this app challenge the government will not only promote Indian apps that are already being used by people but also help developers create new apps.
