According to the site Android PIT, in addition to Huawei, LG might also be building a new Nexus phone, so as to present Google with two models of different sizes.

Every year since 2010, Google has released a Nexus smartphone without a manufacturer UI that is capable of being unlocked in order to access the system and develop or customize it. Of course, these are also the first models to be upgraded with new versions of Android.

In order to highlight Android M, the next version of the mobile operating system, Google has apparently chosen LG. The South Korean manufacturer has already produced two Nexus phones, in 2012 and 2013, but there is as of yet no information on this new model, which will in any case not be a variation of the G4, the company's new flagship phone.

For several weeks now, tech sites were also spreading rumors of a new Nexus being built by Huawei, a 5.7-inch phablet to be precise. For the Chinese manufacturer, this would be a win-win partnership that would allow it to popularize its brand in western markets. As for Google, this could improve its relations with China, a country in which its services are often blocked by authorities.

If this information is confirmed, Huawei would become the sixth manufacturer to collaborate with Google on the Nexus line. Google has previously worked with HTC, LG, Samsung and Motorola on smartphones, and with Asus, Samsung and HTC on tablets.

So in fact it isn't one, but two new Nexus models that Google could present by the end of the year, with a traditionally sized smartphone made by LG and a phablet made by Huawei.

The last Nexus smartphone, which came out in fall 2014, was developed with Motorola and is still available from $499.99.
