The highlight of the G5 is its modular design which gives the phone more capabilities. The company calls these plug-in G5 modules 'Friends', which is an eco-system of hardware add-ons that allow users to plug-in accessories such as cameras, battery packs, or even a Virtual Reality (VR) headset. The G5 is accompanied by a slew of accessories which include LG 360 VR, 360 Cam, Rolling Bot, Tone Platinum, H3 by B&O Play, Smart Controller and Friends Manager.

In terms of specifications, the G5 sports a 5.3-inch QHD IPS screen featuring an 'Always-on' display, which gives users quick access to check time, notifications, battery level and more.

The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor bundled with 4 GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of built-in storage expandable upto 200GB via microSD slot. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, a USB Type-C port that's compatible with USB 3.0, NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It also houses a fingerprint scanner.

LG G5 gets a dual-camera setup with a 16-megapixel 78-degree lens and an 8-megapixel 135- degree wide angle lens. In addition, it has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The LG G5 has a 2800mAh removable battery despite the metal uni-body. The bottom of the phone -- sporting the LG logo -- detaches and a battery slides out. This gives you the option to replace the battery or attach the LG CAM PLUS module which the company claims gives it abilities to take pictures as good as a DSLR camera.

The LG G5 gets four colour variants which include silver, titan, gold and pink. There is no word on the smartphone's pricing in India, though rumours have pegged it at 50,000.
