Out of the box, the Logitech Z600 is a chic pair of speakers; two cylindrical units wrapped in fabric grille with gentle teal-blue accents - a somewhat Apple-esque design that gives it a neutral appearance.

The Z600 is aimed at those who want to stream stereo sound through their Bluetooth-enabled devices within the confines of a room. Mobility isn't much of an option as the Z600 uses two cables: one running between the speakers and the other for power. But then again, that's an expected price one would pay to get separate left and right channel outputs.

The ease of connecting devices is the clear USP of this device. Pairing it via Bluetooth took a few seconds, and the device will remember the last three devices used on it.

Logitech also bundles a small USB adaptor that can allow a computer without Bluetooth to stream to it wirelessly. But to cover its bases, the Z600 gives you the option to connect to it in the old fashioned 3.5mm way as well.

With three drivers to each unit, these speakers are more than capable of catering to a moderately-sized room. The speakers' strength lies in their mids, making them ideal for vocal heavy and classical genres. The highs too are clear and well-balanced, even when you crank up the volume.

The Z600 does not produce much bass, given the lack of a subwoofer. That said, however, the sub bass is fairly prominent, meaning bass guitars and cellos in jazz don't sound as bad as emasculated beats in modern pop and electronic music.

Jack up the volume and what strikes you the most is that the speakers really hold their ground. No distortion, crackling or metal resonance (thanks to the fabric grille).

Overall, the Z600 do well as desktop speakers that give you the option to quickly connect your phone, tablet or laptop without much fuss. They're not portable and since most buyers are unlikely to move it around much after setting it up, Logitech could have considered giving a subwoofer output. With a price tag of well over ten grands, one should at least have the option of turning it into a more complete system.

With a focus on convenience and an unapologetically high price tag, the Z600 seems aimed at high-end smartphone and tablet users who are comfortable trading audiophile qualities for an elegant pair of speakers that can hold its own even in a noisy room.
