Jeanswest has introduced the technology that captures image of your backside on your own personal screen in the changeroom. Women can save themselves the trouble of stepping out into the main store, and reviewing themselves in front lined up lights and mirrors, reports the Daily Telegraph.

CEO Stephen Younane said that the camera was a 'way to bring some fitting room fun to the experience of purchasing a pair of jeans.'

But leading retail consultant Stephen Kulmar, of Retail Oasis, expressed doubts about changeroom novelties like the butt cam, suggesting it to be a sales-boosting strategy that also compensated for decreasing numbers of sales staff. Kulmar said: 'For males the changeroom is where the sale is made. Men don't like going shopping so if you can get them into the changeroom this is where the sale is made. And for women in particular, if they think their behind looks good in something, they'll buy it.'

He added: 'Instead of adding staff, they are re-organising their service."
