The announcement, which came as a Twitter post, talked about the journey he went through in Xiaomi and Poco, and what are his plans for the future.

Back in July last year we saw Jai Mani leaving Poco smartphone brand as the head of product. He was brought on-board as the lead product manager for Xiaomi. After he left, Xiaomi appointed C Manmohan as the show runner (General Manager of Poco India). This year we saw a few Poco smartphones launching outside and inside India. However, to everyone’s surprise, C Manmohan today announced his departure from the company.

The announcement, which came as a Twitter post, talked about the journey he went through in Xiaomi and Poco, and what are his plans for the future. “It is always difficult to bid adieu to something that we are really close with. Will be starting a new journey of becoming an entrepreneur at the end of this year. I express my gratitude to everyone who has been with me throughout this journey. Wishing @Indiapoco team the best,” he tweeted along with a letter.

Manmohan became a part of Xiaomi India in August 2018. It is not clear who will become the next face for Poco, which earlier this year classed itself as a separate entity and not a Xiaomi sub-brand.

Talking more about his next career step, Manmohan said that “Since my MBA days I have always yearned to begin something new of my own. I feel like the time has come for me to set out on my entrepreneurial journey. While I will miss working with my incredible team, I can’t wait to test out all the things that I have learnt at Poco and Xiaomi. I will always love both the brands for what they have taught me at such a young age.”

Under him, Poco launched its X2 smartphone in India and more recently, the M2. On the global level, the firm has just unveiled the Poco X3.
