Qualcomm releases Snapdragon 888 benchmark results
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 benchmark scores suggest an improved performance across CPU, graphics, and AI, among other parameters.
Qualcomm has released benchmark scores of its latest flagship Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, which is set to power a variety of premium and mid-range handsets in 2021. The scores cover select industry benchmarks testing system including CPU, GPU, and AI use cases.
It is worth noting that these tests were conducted on a reference device with Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 512GB UFS 3.0 storage, and a 6.05-inch FHD display with 120Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm conducted the benchmark tests three times to collate an average score with the default setting.
As said earlier, the benchmarks are on AnTuTu, GFX Bench, Geekbench, Ludashi, MLPerf, and ProCyon. Here are some of the top highlights of these benchmarks.
First up is AnTuTu. The chipset scored on an average of 735439 points. On single-core Geekbench test, it scored 1135. On multi-core Geekbench, it scored 3794 points. On GFX Bench, it scored 169 points. Snapdragon 888 scored 911883 points on AITuTu benchmark tests.
Overall, the benchmark scores give a promising picture of the new chipset. Note that synthetic tests do not necessarily tell how a device will perform on a day-to-day basis as users' preferences and behaviour vary. Qualcomm also suggests the same as it says, “Benchmark results may vary between the Snapdragon 888 reference design and future commercial devices due to differences in performance settings, storage components, display refresh rates, timing of software updates, and more.”
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processors are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2021. Already a bunch of smartphone companies have confirmed plans to launch devices with the latest chipset. These include Xiaomi's Mi 11, Realme Race, and Oppo Find X3.
