Qualcomm kicked off its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit Digital 2020 today. During its two-day long virtual conference that was held in a virtual format this year owing to the pandemic, Qualcomm announced its flagship 888 5G chipset.

The newly launched Snapdragon 888 system-on-chip comes with the company’s 3rd generation Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System that fosters global compatibility by offering mmWave and sub-6across all major bands worldwide. It also offers support for 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM, standalone, non-standalone, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing among others.

Qualcomm announced that its Snapdragon 888 SoC comes with the new sixth-generation Qualcomm AI Engine, with Qualcomm Hexagon processor. It offers 26 tera operations per second (TOPS). It also features the second-generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which incorporates lower-power always-on AI processing for intuitive, intelligent features.

The newly launched Snapdragon 888 also features Snapdragon Elite Gaming, which helps in achieving a frame rate of up to 144 frames per second (fps), and Adreno GPU. Additionally, it features advanced computational photography along with Qualcomm Spectra ISP that can capture images and videos at 2.7 gigapixels per second or roughly 120 photos at 12MP resolution, which is up to 35% faster than the previous generation.

Qualcomm said that Snapdragon 888 5G will be supported by devices by ASUS, BlackShark, Lenovo, LG, MEIZU, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, OPPO, Sharp, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
