Reliance RIL AGM 2020: JioMart beta app available in 200 cities, to expand to four new categories soon
At RIL's 43rd AGM Isha Ambani said that Reliance Jio was offering a unique solution to the kirana store owners as a part of which the company would convert the existing store into a self-service store in less than 48 hours.
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) hosted its 43rd annual general meeting (AGM) on July 15. At the event, that was hosted virtually first time owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, RIL chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani announced that JioMart's online platform, which got a big break with the company's partnership with Facebook earlier this year, is now available in beta mode in 200 cities across the country.
He also said that in a short time since the company launched the pilot program, JioMart is handling a total of 2,50,000 transactions every day.
“We have successfully piloted JioMart grocery model with kirana partners. The beta version of JioMart grocery platform is being piloted in 200 cities. Daily orders have crossed 2.5 lakh, and the number is growing each day,” Mukesh Ambani said at Reliance Jio's 43rd AGM adding that the company was planning to introduce the service in more cities in the coming days.
While the JioMart is focussed on groceries at the moment, in the future the company will expand into other sectors, which includes electronics, fashion, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
“In the coming years, we will cover many more cities, serve many more customers across India, and expand to many more categories,” Ambani said in the keynote address.
At the event, Isha Ambani also talked about JioMart from the perspective of the kirana store owners. She said that Reliance Jio was offering a unique solution to the kirana store owners as a part of which the company would convert the existing store into a self-service store in less than 48 hours.
“With JioMart, kirana stores will no longer be held back by limited product range, space, or delivery challenges. The partnership with JioMart can potentially help kirana stores grow business and earnings,” Isha Ambani said at the AGM adding that all the kirana stores that opt for the solution will get a complimentary Covid-19 essentials kit consisting of hand-sanitizers and masks.
