Review: Spice Stellar Pad
Spice Stellar Pad Mi 1010 embarks on the new adventure not in the entry level budget segment but in the 10 inch capacitive touchscreen tablet market. This is not a tab for the entry level segment but for those are ready to shell out a few little more.
The Indian market is flooded with tablets. One of the fastest growing markets, the growth rates touching 90% upwards, tablets are leading the way for the internet revolution in the country. For the manufacturers tablets is a growth story of a dream come true. Manufacturers see this boom as a new route to success. If January saw the launch of Videocon V10 perhaps what could be termed as the best value for money tablet in Indian market, Spice has followed that with Stellar Pad Mi 1010 taking it a notch higher.
Stellar Pad Mi 1010
Spice Stellar Pad Mi 1010 embarks on the new adventure not in the entry level budget segment but in the 10 inch capacitive touchscreen tablet market. This is not a tab for the entry level segment but for those are ready to shell out a few little more. The printed price is ₹19,000 but the selling price is ₹ 12,999. At ₹ 12,999 the features are impressive. Stellar Pad runs on Jelly Beans 4.1, the latest version of Android. Apparently it is one of the few tabs that runs on Jelly Beans.
Running on 1.5 GHz Rockchip Dual core processor with Quadcore GPU with 16gb ROM and 1GB DDR Ram is great power for a tablet at this price.
The tablet has a 7600 mAh lion polymer battery which Spice claims the battery life is highest as compared to other tablets. The size is 10.1 inches and display is 1280 by 800 the display can be termed as good. Design wise the tablet is well designed. The plastic quality looks far better than the other tabs in the mid size.
There are 2 cameras. The front camera is 3.0 mega pixels and a VGA camera at the back. Other features include Wi-Fi, 3D -Gsensor Expandable Storage Capacity of 32 GB
The Verdict
Spice Stellar Pad MI 1010 is definitely worth it not at the listed price of ₹ 19,000 but at the selling price of ₹ 12,999. Though one wonders why do companies have this dual system of pricing, one for listing and another for selling. Stellar tablet can be termed above average in design. The processor is good. OS Jelly beans is the best one can get of Android. You can say it is a fairly good piece of hardware to work on. Having said that while reviewing the tablet there was a problem of charger getting heated up. There was a problem of tablet not getting on while charging.
The capacative touch is much better as compared other tablets who claim to have capacitive touch. Comparing with an iPad is going to be futile but amongst the 10 inch tablets available in India Stellar Pad 1010 could easily be one of the better ones. At ₹ 12,999 it is worth it.
