Does running seems mundane to you? Feel like you could be doing something more creative or productive while running to stay fit? Try the Map My Run app for Android and iOS. The fitness app measures your run and as the name suggests, maps it too.

But how is that more creative? Gene Lu, a creative director ran 20 miles involving 152 turns to make the map of his run resemble Yoda. His series of runs include map art of Darth Vader, Storm Troopers and more. This series of map-based artwork that @genelu of Portland, Oregon shares on his Instagram account is affectionately called "Run Wars" by Lu according to the Wall Street Journal.

Apps like Map My Run use the GPS location from your phone to calculate where you are and draw a line along the path you're taking. So, if you run in along a certain route, the app will capture the exact outline. In this case, it happened to be Yoda, but people have been mapping and sharing their artistic runs since 2011 and people have managed to make elaborate artwork at the intersection of workout and creativity.
