WhatsApp has long been working on providing multi-device support on its platform. Reports in the past have detailed how this feature would work. For instance, word is that users will be able to connect up to four devices using this feature. Now, a new report says that WhatsApp beta users will get access to this feature soon.

As per a report by WABetaInfo, the blog that tracks developments in the popular messaging app, WhatsApp is working on the possibility to offer the multi-device support feature in WhatsApp Web beta in a bid to enable users to use WhatsApp without keeping their phones connected.

The screenshots shared by the blog site show that users will get the option to link within the WhatsApp Web section of their mobile apps. When they tap on the ‘Link a Device' option, WhatsApp will show them a prompt that will ask them if they want to join WhatsApp's Web beta program. “Join the new WhatsApp Web Beta, which no longer requires that you keep your phone connected,” the message in the prompt says. This means that once they join the WhatsApp Web Beta program, they will be able to use the multi-device support feature on their laptops.

In a subsequent screenshot, WhatsApp informs users that soon they will get access to features such as archiving and muting chats from a companion device, deleting messages and chats from a companion app and calling from WhatsApp on desktop.

That said, this feature isn't available yet. But the blog site says that it should be available on WhatsApp's platform soon.

In addition to this, the report says that WhatsApp has started rolling out its updated Terms of Service (ToS) to select users. The updated ToS will come into effect on February 8, 2021. Another screenshot shared by the blog site shows the key changes, which includes how WhatsApp processes users' data, how businesses can use Facebook hosted services to store and manage their WhatsApp chats and how WhatsApp partners with Facebook to offer integrations across the Facebook Company Products.
