WhatsApp’s Android Business app to get a new call button soon
WhatsApp is also working on introducing a new expiring media functionality in its Android app. This feature will enable users to send media files, such as images, videos and GIFs, that vanish without a trace.
WhatsApp last year rolled out a new catalogue feature in its Business app that enabled businesses to share their entire catalogue of products with customers. Now, the company is working on simplifying this experience further.
As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on integrating the call buttons in its Android Business app. As of now, users of WhatsApp's Android Business app get two separate call buttons in the app. While one app can be used to make voice calls, the other can be used to make video calls. Now, word is that the company is planning to combine the two options into a single button.
The redesigned button will feature a new icon that shows a phone with a plus sign. When users of WhatsApp's Android Business app tap on this button they will be directed to a small dialog box that will enable them to pick between making a video call and a voice call. This will also give the company some room to accommodate its Catalogue shortcut.
The blog site says that WhatsApp has started rolling out this feature to its users today. If you haven't received it already, the blog site recommends waiting for 24 hours and updating the app.
Separately, WhatsApp is also working on introducing a new expiring media functionality in its Android app. This feature will enable users to send media files, such as images, videos and GIFs, that vanish without a trace. However, unlike the expiring messages feature, which is also in development, this feature will not come with a timer. Instead, the media file will vanish as soon as the recipient closes the particular chat window.
