Sony is yet to unveil the PS5 release date in India and is keeping several Indian gamers waiting. But while there's no indication as to when this info will be out, Reliance Digital took a pre-registration survey of those who are interested buying the console and ended up exposing all their names, email addresses and phone numbers on the web, as per Medianama. The survey was however, taken down after Medianama asked about it. The retail giant is yet to give an official statement on the matter.

The Japanese tech firm has however, given a statement. “Thank you for bringing this to our notice, we have shared this information with Reliance to take necessary action. Sony India follows strict privacy protocols to safe guard its customer data.”

It has been reported that at least 800 people took the survey using Google Form and the news website was able to see their personal details. After filling out the survey, it gave an option to see responses by others. This opened a webpage revealing all the details.

But that's not all, the survey page also gave away information on the demand for the PlayStation 5 console, software and peripheral devices. And this included information related to when they are likely to buy the device, accessories they can buy, if they will get the PS Plus membership and the most important information of all – when will it launch in India. However, that has not been mentioned in the report.

Sony PS5 has gone on sale in majority of the countries today, while in some countries it hit the shelves on 12th of this month.

The above incident ties up perfectly with Kaspersky's recent report stating that there are about 130 suspicious websites and web pages around the world related to PlayStation 5. These have ‘Playstation' in their names and gives interested (and unaware) users a chance to pre order the PS5 console. For this it asks them for their personal information.
