Although Sony has revealed all the specifications of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and even the DualSense controller, it is still not clear it can play PS4 or older games. Turns out, it can. This doesn't come officially from Sony though, but from a Turkish retailer called Hepsiburada. The retailer recently published a PS5 page that mentioned the backward compatibility details of the upcoming PS5. As per the page, the console can not just play PS4 games but all PS3 and PS2 games as well. Now this should come as one of the biggest (and delightful) news for those who are planning to upgrade from older PlayStation consoles to the latest.

This is of course not official and it might be a possibility that the retailer might have misprinted the information. Nonetheless, since there's no clarity on how many PS4 games will be there for the PS5 console, claiming it to run PS3 and PS2 games might be a long shot for now.

But we are expecting some level of backward compatibility since rival Microsoft has already called its Xbox X Series as the ‘'most compatible' console ever. It can run Xbox One, Xbox 360 and original Xbox games as well.

For now, Sony is preparing to reveal some of the titles that will be coming to PS5 on June 5 in an event. Meanwhile, a report has cited Sony Interactive Entertainment's CEO Jim Ryan talking about the price of the PlayStation 5. He said that “I think the best way that we can address this is by providing the best possible value proposition that we can. I don't necessarily mean lowest price. Value is a combination of many things. In our area it means games, it means number of games, depth of games, breadth of games, quality of games, price of games... all of these things and how they avail themselves of the feature set of the platform.”

We are yet to know the official launch date of the console though. We'll keep you updated with the latest news as and when they hit the web.
