Sony clears the air on region locked PS5 titles, support for PS Now

The page confirms that PS5 games will be region free. This means you will be able to play titles from other countries without any restrictions.

Sony is all set to bring its PlayStation 5 or PS5 gaming console to the US and select other regions on November 12. But before it does that, the firm has made a massive FAQ page live that gives a bit more information about the console and the games that will be region free. It also talks about PS Now support.

The page confirms that PS5 games will be region free. This means you will be able to play titles from other countries without any restrictions. In simple words, if there's a game launched in Japan that you want if you are in the US. In typical situations, you would have to wait for the title to launch in the US but that won't be the case now. However, details have not been mentioned.

The question on the FAQ page “Are PS5 games region-locked?” just says “No.”

Also mentioned is that PS5 will support PlayStation Now cloud gaming platform. This means you will get access to more older PlayStation games as the platform lets you download and stream PS4, PS3 and even PS2 games. “Yes, players with a PS Now subscription will be able to use PlayStation Now with their PS5, both for streaming and downloading of supported games,” states the page.

That comes in addition to Sony's previous announcement of bringing over 4000 PS4 titles on PS5.

Sony says it's PlayStation Plus members will continue to receive at least two PS4 games each month.

It is still not clear when Sony will release PS5 console in India. The firm has already revealed November 19 as the release date on the website twice before pulling it up.
