Amazon has introduced a new trick that will turn your residential building smarter. The company has introduced a new service called ‘Alexa for Residential', which not only makes it easier for property managers to set up smart home experiences in their homes but also for the residents to customise their homes.

Amazon says that with Alexa for Residential, residents will walk into a ready-to-use, Alexa-powered smart apartment with no account or device setup required.

For residents, this newly launched service would ensure that they don't have to purchase or set up any devices or even have an Amazon account for turning their homes into a smart home. On the other hand, residents who already have an Amazon account can link their accounts to use all of Alexa's features and manage the device in the unit through their Alexa app alongside any other Alexa-enabled devices they already own.

Amazon says that, if a customer links their personal Amazon account, they will have full control of their privacy settings as if the device was their own, and their preferred privacy settings will be automatically applied. Residents can unlink their account at any time, and at move out, in-unit devices can be reset along with the rest of the smart home devices.

For property managers, this service will ensure that they are able to reset Alexa-enabled devices in a house easily while ensuring that Alexa's integration with the smart home remains intact.

This service will also allow property managers to offer custom voice experiences that go beyond the walls of their apartments. They can create custom Alexa skills for every unit in a property, allowing residents to manage rent, maintenance requests, amenity reservations, and more. Property managers can also use Alexa-enabled devices in vacant units to answer common questions, enable self-guided tours, or demo smart home features available in each unit.

This service will be available at IOTAS, STRATIS IoT, and Sentient Property Services across the US this fall.
