Vuvuzelas in your ears, vuvuzelas on your mind, vuvuzelas everywhere... except in your hand! Many Delhiites who have been watching the ongoing FIFA World Cup want to own this plastic blowing horn but can’t get their hands on it.
Vuvuzelas in your ears, vuvuzelas on your mind, vuvuzelas everywhere... except in your hand! Many Delhiites who have been watching the ongoing FIFA World Cup want to own this plastic blowing horn but can't get their hands on it. Most FIFA item dealers have not placed orders for these horns, so it is unlikely that vuvuzelas will find its way to soccer fans in the city.
But there's no need to worry. So what if you can't get your hands on it — you could always play it for as long as you wish online.
The website www.spitorswallow.co.za/blowme.php has come up with a 'Blow Me' option that lets you blow a vuvuzela as hard and as long you want. And this virtual trumpeting is fast gaining popularity, not only worldwide but in the Capital as well.
"My friend sent me the link and I thought it was really cool," says PhD student Swati Mimani. "It doesn't even sound as bad as it does when you hear them while the matches are on," says class XII student Gautam Sharma. Upon pressing the 'Blow Me' button, the virtual vuvuzela gives out a quirky sound. And the longer you press it, the funnier the sound gets.
If you can 'blow' it for really long, you get a virtual pat on the back from the website. But if you leave it just after a 'puff', it will not really be happy with you and give a remark on that less than average 'performance'. Nearly 5 lakh people have already 'blown' the vuvuzelas within days of its launch.
