Google Docs will now correct your grammar, spelling mistakes

This new AI-based tool will detect grammatical and spelling mistakes and suggest correct words. It is first rolling out to Google’s Early Adopter Programme (EAP).

Google has introduced a new tool called "grammar suggestions" for its word processor app, Google Docs. This new tool is integrated directly into Google Docs to help users avoid grammar and spelling mistakes.

The new tool that would underline and highlight probable grammar issues with a blue line, is in the experimental phase and has been made available to eligible applicants of Google's Early Adopter Programme (EAP).

Google is using a machine translation-based technique to recognise grammar errors in copies and suggest corrections at the same time.

Users can select this tool to do a full check of their copy on Google Docs. If the tool detects any errors it will notify along with an alternative word to replace it with. If there are no grammatical errors, the display message will show the same.

"Our AI can catch several different types of corrections, from simple grammatical rules like how to use articles in a sentence (like "a" versus "an"), to more complicated grammatical concepts such as how to use subordinate clauses correctly," Google said in a blog post.

Google says that its machine learning will improve overtime to detect even trickier grammar mistakes. The company also says that its new tool will be completely secure and reliable since it's built natively within Google Docs.
