Google has announced new immersive views, eco-routes and much more for Google Maps at its annual developer conference Google I/O 2022. CEO Sundar Pichai started off the keynote with Google Maps. All these features will be coming to both Android and iOS later this year. As per Google's announcement, Google Maps will come with redesigned user interface that will make it easier to see how you can get from point A to point B.

The new Google Maps immersive view will allow users to have a sneak peek into the neighborhood, landmark, restaurant or popular venue around a specific place without even physically visiting the local area. Google explained, "So whether you're traveling somewhere new or scoping out hidden local gems, an immersive view will help you make the most informed decisions before you go."

Additionally, Maps will also help users to understand what the place looks like at different times of the day and in various weather conditions by using a time slider.

The new Immersive view will work on both android as well as iOS devices. The feature will first start rolling out in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo later this year with more countries coming soon.

Google is also focusing on eco-friendly routes to ensure that users should see and choose the most fuel-efficient route when looking for driving directions. The feature is going to be available outside the United States later in 2022.

Well! That's not all, Google is also redefining Google search to develop the understanding of all types of information i.e, text, voice, visual and more. Prabhakar Raghavan, Senior Vice-President, Google, said in a blogpost, “We're redefining Google Search yet again, combining our understanding of all types of information — text, voice, visual and more — so you can find helpful information about whatever you see, hear and experience, in whichever ways are most intuitive to you. We envision a future where you can search your whole world, any way and anywhere".

Google has also previewed a visual search advancement called 'Scene Exploration' in its multi-search feature. This will allow people to pan their camera and instantly view information about multiple objects in a scene at the same time.
