Google Pixel 3 XL prototype reveals notch display, single rear camera
Latest leaked images of Pixel 3 XL are believed to be official prototypes of Google’s upcoming flagship smartphone.
Google is expected to launch the next generation Pixel smartphones later this fall. The series will possibly include two smartphones dubbed 'Pixel 3' and a bigger 'Pixel 3 XL'. A new prototype of Pixel 3 XL leaked online reveals a notch display for the smartphone, which could turn out to be true.
Pictures of the prototype model for Google Pixel 3 XL were revealed by xdadevelopers. These images were later looked at by the website 9to5google who confirmed a similar logo seen on the prototype images of Pixel 2 revealed by Google itself. The logos behind the prototypes of Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 2 are quite similar which hints on these images possibly coming directly from Google.
Prototypes don't necessarily mean the final design of the phone but the possibility cannot be ignored either. If Google does go ahead with this design then it would be one of the many to join the long line of smartphones with a notch. The leaked images show the notch cutout on top of the display which houses the earpiece and front camera lens. The smartphone has an edge-to-edge display with a bottom bezel.
This design directly complements a report by Bloomberg which describes the same details for Google's Pixel XL smartphone. As for the smaller Pixel 3, it is said to have a similar design language as the Pixel 2 with no notch. The report also states that Pixel 3 XL will have two front cameras but a single camera at the rear.
The images further show the rear panel which has the same Pixel smartphone patterns of the monochrome colour design with two shades of black. There's a single rear camera along with a LED flash on Pixel 3 XL. At the centre is the circular fingerprint sensor.
More design specifics include the power key and volume rocker on the right side and SIM slot along with the USB Type-C port at the bottom. Google killed the headphone jack last year with the Pixel 2 series and it is sticking to the decision with the next-generation phones as well.
