Reliance Jio’s 5G roadmap explained in 5 easy points

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) hosted its 43rd annual general meeting on Wednesday. At the event that was hosted virtually in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company unveiled its roadmap for the deployment of the 5G technology in India.

RIL chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani while presenting the company's plan of foraying into 5G technology said that Reliance Jio was ready to deploy 5G infrastructure in India as soon as the spectrum auction began.

He also dedicated the company's feat to Prime Minister's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. “I dedicate Jio's 5G solution to our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's highly motivating vision of ‘ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT',” RIL chairman said at the AGM.

Here are five important things you should know about Reliance Jio's 5G roadmap:

-- At the AGM's keynote address, Mukesh Ambani said that Jio had designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch, which would enable the company to launch 5G services in India.

-- The made-in-India 5G solution will be ready for trial in India as soon as the 5G spectrum was available in the country.

-- Reliance Jio will begin the field deployment of 5G infrastructure in India in 2021.

-- At the event, Ambani also said that Reliance Jio will be able to upgrade its infrastructure from 4G to 5G easily owing to its all-IP network architecture.

-- After Jio has successfully deployed its 5G solution in India, it will export the same to other countries across the globe.
