WhatsApp's latest beta update lets you mute chats forever
WhatsApp's beta app on Android has a new feature that comes with the always mute option, new storage UI and more.
WhatsApp has rolled out a new beta update for its Android app. The latest WhatsApp beta version comes with a bunch of new features such as the ‘Always Mute' option, no calls for verified businesses and more.
The new WhatsApp update is available for public beta users. Those who are on WhatsApp's public beta programme will be able to experience these new features. The update is slowly rolling out and some features may not be available to all users, WABetaInfo noted. The WhatsApp beta update is version 2.20.201.10.
WhatsApp has been working on replacing the 1 year mute option for an indefinite one. It has finally enabled this on its Android beta app. Now users can mute chats forever by selecting the ‘Always' option from the list. The other two mute timelines include 8 hours and 1 week. This update also makes a change where the voice and video call buttons no longer appear for verified business contacts. It's not confirmed if this is a mistake or deliberate.
This update also brings the new storage UI on WhatsApp. It was rolled out two days with the previous WhatsApp beta update but many users didn't receive it. Looks like the latest update is making the new storage UI available to more users. WhatsApp is also making it easier to edit photos, videos and GIFs. This feature is called ‘Media Guidelines' and it helps align stickers and text to photos, videos and GIFs.
The latest WhatsApp beta update is available on the Google Play Store. There's no word on when WhatsApp will bring this feature to all users but with the public beta version getting them, it could be soon.
