Google Pixel 4a XL reportedly gets cancelled, high-res renders show how it would look like

Ever since the launch of Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones last year, rumours around the Pixel 4a and 4a XL have been brewing up. But it looks like there won't be any Pixel 4a XL smartphone in 2020 as the device has reportedly been cancelled. However, the renders of the device have been leaked by tipster @xleaks7 via Pigtou. So in case you were wondering how the Pixel 4a XL might have looked upon its launch, it would have been something like what you are seeing above.

It is not for sure why Google thought of cancelling the device.

The report adds that Pixel 4a XL was supposed to feature an all-plastic build, same as what is being rumoured for the Pixel 4a and measure 154.3 x 73.9 x 8.2mm, which is more compact than 3a XL (160 x 76.1 x 8.2mm). At the front, there was a punch hole camera on the top left corner, which resulted in a higher screen to body ratio. Also, there were dual cameras at the back along with a fingerprint sensor. And since the device is as thick as the Pixel 3a XL, it is said to have enough room for the 3.5mm headphone jack on top.

The website not just shows the now-cancelled Pixel 4a XL but also compared its size with the Pixel 4a.

Adding to this information is that the Pixel 4a might be delayed as rumoured before. Looking at Google's previous release, the Pixel 3a series came out in May last year but this time it doesn't look like the case. This year, the firm is said to launch the Pixel 4a series sometime in July but rest assured, there won't be a Pixel 4a XL, as per the report.

While cancelling the Pixel 4a XL (only if true) seems like a surprising move by Google, it might not make customers happy in countries it is meant to launch in, such as India. This will probably leave them with just one smartphone in the 4 series since Pixel 4 and 4XL did not launch in the country last year.
