This new WhatsApp feature will let you share top quality photos from your phone

WhatsApp photo quality feature has been extremely poor, so far. Now, a new WhatsApp feature is set to ensure users get the best quality photo, if they so want. Users have long been complaining about quality of WhatsApp images, which the app always downgraded.

To ensure it stays far ahead of its rivals in the messenger app space, WhatsApp is working on a number of features that are aimed at improving the overall experience of its users on the messaging platform. Most of the times it looks to enhance the features that are already available and sometimes it rolls out an entirely new feature. This time it is all about enhancement. Reports in the past have detailed that the Facebook-owned messaging platform has started testing the multi-device support feature that was confirmed by WhatsApp boss Will Cathcart last month. Now, reports have revealed another important feature that is being worked on within the company. This new WhatsApp feature aims to improve the quality of the photos or images being shared on the messaging app.

WABetaInfo, in its latest update, reveals that WhatsApp has started working on a feature called Image Quality. This feature, as the name suggests, will enable users to pick the quality of the image that users share with their friends and family on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Photo Feature

As of now, WhatsApp, by default, compresses the images while sharing it with other users on its platform. This has the nasty impact of taking away the freshness of the image concerned and can be very off-putting. Now, WhatsApp users will get three options -- Auto, Best Quality and Data Saver -- to pick from when they upload an image for sharing. On picking the Auto option, WhatsApp will detect the best compression algorithm based on the image that you are sharing and then send the image across its platform. The second option or the Best Quality option will enable WhatsApp users to send high-quality images over its platform. So, for instance, if you share an HD-quality image to a friend, on picking the Best Quality option, WhatsApp will not reduce the image quality at all. The third option or the Data Saver option will compress the image in order to reduce the data usage while sharing the image. At the moment, this feature is being developed for WhatsApp's Android beta app.

WhatsApp Video Feature

It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp is working on a similar feature for videos as well. Reports in the past have detailed that when released, WhatsApp users will get three options that are similar to options that they will get on using the Image Quality feature to pick from while sharing videos. But this feature too is in the developmental stage at the moment.
