Vi says GIGAnet is future-ready and will deliver stronger and faster network. The combined 4G network reaches nearly 1 billion people in the country. The GIGAnet aims to deliver an improved and unified network to Vi customers.

The new announcement comes days after Vodafone Idea introduced Vi as the new brand identity. The company also launched a new Vi app and a new incentive programme for its users. The rebranding is likely to help Vodafone improve its revenue market share as well as average revenue per user.

In a regulatory filing last week, the company said it plans to raise 25,000 crore through a combination of issuance of equity shares and non-convertible debentures, according to CNBCTV18.

Vodafone Idea is also looking to clear outstanding Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. The Supreme Court has directed all the telecom operators to pay up 10% of the total AGR dues by the end of this year. The remaining money has to be paid in 10 instalments starting next fiscal year. Vodafone Idea has outstanding dues of 58,250 crore until 2016-17. According to the telecom department, it has already paid 7,854 crore.
