That's because the firm has garnered millions of users over the years that use it on a daily basis to communicate. While the instant messenger has been consistent in rolling out new features, there's still some of us who don't use them or are unaware that they even exist. These not just make you more productive but also change the way you operate WhatsApp. So, we've listed a few below to make your lives tad bit easier.

Message formatting

Message formatting is important at times, specially when you are typing an endlessly long message and need to highlight something. Right now you have three formatting options – Strikethrough, Bold and Italicise. And there's no easy button to do it. You would have to use special characters to make the word or phrase *Bold*, _italicise_ and ~strikethrough~

Custom Notifications

Since most of us are working from home, it is natural to get more WhatsApp alerts than before since it is one of the primary ways to connect. So, you can use custom notifications to avoid getting alerts for all the chats that you are a part of. This will let you know if someone important has messaged you or not.

Pin three chats on top

This feature has been in WhatsApp since forever and while most of us ignore it, this is one really important feature. It often happens that when you are in a chat, the important ones move way below, which makes it difficult to find and reply. Pinning three chats on top saves your time and lets you easily access that office group or close friends or family group at any time without searching for them.

Keep the storage clean

It is also possible to keep chats clean by deleting the unwanted images, videos, gifs, text chats and more. You can do this by navigating through Settings option and deleting the data for each chat in the Data and Storage section. WhatsApp shows the heaviest chat on top followed by others in a sequential manner.

Don't save photos and videos by default

And in case you want to save your phone's storage space, you can disable auto downloading of WhatsApp images and videos that others send. This option is also available from WhatsApp's Settings section.
