OnePlus Nord launch highlights: OnePlus unveiled its ‘affordable’ smartphone, Nord alongside OnePlus Buds. Here's everything we know about these two products.

OnePlus today unveiled its new smartphone today called OnePlus Nord. The handset features high-end specifications like 5G connectivity, AMOLED screen and more and is priced at ₹24,999 for the base model. It comes in three variants based on 6+64GB, 8+128GB and 12+256GB models. 

Apart from OnePlus Nord, the company also launched its first ever TWS earbuds, OnePlus Buds. These comes in three colours and are priced at ₹4,990.

OnePlus Nord starts at ₹24,999 and will go on sale starting August 4 on Amazon India and OnePlus India website.

It has signature metal sliders on the side. Powering it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 5G connectivity.

Ahead of the official launch, here's a brief round-up of the five most important things about the OnePlus Nord.

OnePlus 8 Pro vs OnePlus Nord

OnePlus Nord is going to be more affordable than the OnePlus 8 series. OnePlus 8 Pro is currently available for ₹54,000. The phone comes with 6.78 inches display, Snapdragon 865 SoC, and 48-megapixel triple rear cameras. 

Not the first virtual event

This is not the first time OnePlus has unveiled a new smartphone virtually. In 2016, OnePlus live stream the phone launch event through Virtual Reality. 

OnePlus Nord camera

OnePlus Nord will reportedly come with a quad-camera set-up. The module will feature a 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor with an f/1.75 lens. It will also have an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 119 field-of-view (FOV), a 5-megapixel macro lens with an f/2.4 aperture, and 2-megapixel depth sensor unit.

Carl Pei wants the competitors to ‘chill'

Hours before the official launch, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has taken a swipe at the competitors. Here is what he said:

OnePlus Nord battery

OnePlus Nord is said to run on a 4,115mAh battery. The phone is also expected to come with fast charging support. According to reports, the phone will support 30W fast-charging support. Right now, it is not clear whether the phone will support wireless charging as well.

High-end specs?

OnePlus Nord is said to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset which comes with 5G support. On the software front, it will offer OxygenOS 10 operating system based on Android 10. The phone is said to come with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and storage of 128GB or 256GB.

Google Duo, Phone and Messages

OnePlus Nord comes with Google Duo, Phone and Message apps pre-installed instead of its own SMS and dealer apps.

OnePlus Buds

OnePlus Buds reportedly looks identical to Google Pixel Buds. The TWS earbuds will also have Apple AirPods-like design. The device is said to come in black, blue, and white colour options.
