Bizarre! NASA finds mysterious 'spaghetti' on Mars. Party time for aliens?

Aliens on Mars? Well, no one knows for sure yet, but NASA certainly is hunting for them and leaving no stone unturned on the Red Planet, figuratively speaking. In this endeavour, NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover, which is on a mission to reveal the secrets of the planet, has found something bizarre. The latest photos taken by the rover have been shared by NASA and it may well make many think there is an Italian restaurant on Mars and perhaps the aliens are partying!

Well, there have been many strange things found by scientists on Mars, but this one takes the cake, literally. NASA's Mars Perseverance rover has captured an image of an area with its Front Right Hazard Avoidance Camera A, which showed a bizarre spaghetti-like object.

It is not spaghetti, but it sure looks like it- something that is in the shape of a tangled string. This image was acquired on July 12, 2022 by the rover's front-facing hazard avoidance cameras that keep an active eye on the surface of the planet. "HazCams detect hazards to the front and back pathways of the rover, such as large rocks, trenches, or sand dunes. Engineers also use the front HazCams to see where to move the robotic arm to take measurements, photos, and collect rock and soil samples," NASA mentioned about its Mars Rovers hazard avoidance cameras.

What exactly is this thread-like object on Mars? No one knows as yet! But a CNET report suggests that the most likely explanation for this tangled thread-like structure found on the surface is from an earlier mission or even this one. In fact, Perseverance has found leftovers of spacecraft earlier too and this object may be from this mission itself.

The rover's arrival on Mars in February 2021 was quite a dramatic event. The descent stage safely delivered the wheeled laboratory to the surface and then crashed at a distance from the rover. Bits and pieces of the gear may have spread across a wide area thereafter. In fact, recently, NASA's Perseverance Mars rover found a shiny piece of foil stuck on a rock on Mars. Scientists believe the piece of the shiny foil is actually a thermal blanket that they think may have come from the descent stage of the rocket that landed the rover on the planet.

There is a possibility that thread-like substance is also the result of such equipment from the spacecraft.

Currently, NASA's Perseverance Mars rover is keeping track of an ancient river delta region inside the Jezero Crater on Mars.
