Google tests another ‘2020 Year in Review’ hidden in YouTube Music account menu
The menu option is tucked away among the options you see when you tap your account photo. Whether most users actually end up discovering the feature from this location remains to be seen.
In December last year, Google began testing a new section for the YouTube Music app titled ‘Your 2020 music journey' that showed a ‘2020 Year in Review' playlist, along with your top albums and statistics related to your music listening during the year. However, the Spotify competitor didn't actually roll out the feature to a wide audience, neither in December nor in January.

That year in review feature for 2020 is finally rolling out to more users, according to a report by 9to5Google. Unlike the previous rollout, instead of mailing users about the playlist, Google has decided to show them the option to view their Year in Review from the menu that shows up when you tap your account picture. Whether this rolls out to all users globally, or most users actually end up discovering the feature from this location remains to be seen.
The main difference between the year in review feature rolled out in December and now is a few reduced statistics such as the length of time you listened to music and the total number of tracks you heard in 2020. However, the report states that the interface is actually more responsive and interactive than the previous one that was rolled out. You should be able to see your top songs, albums, playlists and artists with the new ‘Year in Review' rollout.

Google continues to lag behind in rolling out features such as time synced lyrics that competitors like Apple Music and Spotify already offer, while the app's support forums are full of complaints from users that are finding features missing after the company pulled the plug on Google Play Music. Users who haven't migrated their Play Music data to YouTube Music will have to do so by the end of the month, before Google deletes that data forever.
