It was an interesting day in the world of technology today. On one hand, Amazon India announced Back to College sale for parents, students and teachers in India. On the other hand, Instagram started testing a new Reshare sticker on its platform. In addition to that Google Meet rolled back unlimited time limit for free users in group calls.

So, here's what happened in tech today:

Google Meet group time limit for free users reduced

Google, via an update on its support page, today announced that free Google Meet users will be able to host only one-on-one calls for up to 24 hours via their personal computers. The company also said that group calls with three or more participants can go a maximum of up to 60 minutes.

Amazon India announces Back to College sale

Amazon India today announced Back to College sale in India. The sale started on July 13, 2021, and it will go on until July 31, 2021. During the course of its sale, Amazon India will be offering up to 50% discount on the purchase of laptops, headphones, speakers and accessories. They will also be able to avail no-cost EMI options on the purchase of various devices. 

Fitbit OS 5.2 update brings new features to Sense, Versa 3

Fitbit today rolled out the Fitbit OS 5.2 update for Versa 3 and Sense smartwatches. This update brings support for Hindi characters for all on-device message alerts, snore and noise detection feature, Google Assistant audible responses and personalised high and low heart rate notifications to Fitbit's smartwatches.

WhatsApp is bringing joinable calls to iOS

WhatsApp is working on a ‘Tap to Join' feature that will allow users to join a call they have been invited to. At the moment, participants cannot join a group voice once they have missed it. But this new feature will enable them to join a group call if it is still going on. 

Instagram starts testing Reshare sticker

Instagram has started testing a new feature called ‘Reshare sticker' that aims to change the way people reshare content in their own stories. With this feature, Instagram wants users to be more thoughtful about what they reshare on the platform.
