Google is updating its Maps app by adding a bunch of new features. However, the most highlighted one is the Google Maps location sharing feature. You can share this feature with your friends or loved ones in real-time and it save your life in an emergency. Now, you will say that you already had this feature, so what's new about the latest update? Amazingly, this significant update to Google Maps will share your location with your friends and family and they will receive the arrival and departure alert at certain locations. Clearly, this is an amazing update that will help in ensuring safety and security of the user.

"With new location sharing notifications, you can see when a loved one has arrived or left a place so you can more easily coordinate schedules and have peace of mind," Amanda Leicht Moore, Director of Product of Google Maps said in a blog. "If they've already chosen to share their location with you, you can set a notification for the concert venue's address so you can see when they've arrived and meet up quickly.” the blog added. This means, in case of an emergency, your loved ones will be at least aware of where you are heading to and whether you have reached and passed certain areas on your path.

Well, Google has ensured it keeps privacy intact along with the new update. It says that the notifications can only be set for someone for whom you have already chosen to share the location. That means while updating to the latest Google Maps update, your app will be equipped with this new feature.

Along with the real-time location sharing feature and popping the notification about arrival and departure from certain points, Google Maps has also added some other notable features to help you coordinate plans and stay connected. This will be available with photorealistic 3D aerial views.” To help you with the trip-planning process, we're bringing photorealistic aerial views of nearly 100 of the world's most popular landmarks in cities like Barcelona, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo right to Google Maps,” Google said.

Besides that, there is another update for cyclists. Google Maps is now providing more detailed information for cycling routes. It will be a big relief for cyclists, as the app will now show a breakdown of the path along with other information such as heavy car traffic, stairs, and steep hills coming your way.

Though, the 3-D aerial view and location sharing feature has already been rolled out for Google Maps users for Android as well as iOS devices, while, this cycling route information feature is coming within a few weeks.
